- Lashana Lynch born in England is of Jamaican descent. She attended Twyford CofE High School and ArtsEd drama school in London.
Her first film was Fast Girls in 2012, presented at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.
Lynch co-starred in BBC television film The 7.39 with David Morrissey, Olivia Colman and Sheridan Smith. She also appeared on television in Silent Witness and Death in Paradise as well as a regular cast member in BBC comedy Crims in 2015.
2015 – Starred opposite Lenny Henry in Educating Rita, played in the Minerva Theatre.
2016 – Cast as leading character in Still Star-Crossed, produced by Shonda Rhimes.
2018 – Lynch played Maria Rambeau in Captain Marvel.
2020 – Won an award of distinction by the Black Women in Hollywood Awards.
2021 – Lynch portrayed Nomi, Bond's 007 replacement working alongside Daniel Craig who was in retirement in the final James Bond film franchise – No Time to Die. The film drew international headlines with speculation that Lynch (“Nomi”) would be the new 007 in a future film by Eon Productions. She received a BAFTA Rising Star Award.
2022 – Lynch portrayed an Earth-838 variant from Captain Marvel in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. On this Earth her character becomes Captain Marvel.
Lashana has a sibling – Anwar Lynch.
In the media speculation that Lynch would replace James Bond as 007, Ana de Armas who portrayed a CIA operative from Cuba that helps Bond, told the Sun: “There's no need for a female Bond. There shouldn't be any need to steal someone else's character, you know, to take over. This is a novel, and it leads into this James Bond world and this fantasy of that universe where he's at.”
