Why A Republic?

Nations are made up of people, governments are supposed to be operated by people chosen by the people. The Founders created a republic for a reason. Since they were educated in the classics, they understood that democracy always turns into something else, especially when it is direct democracy or 'pure' democracy. Even the creator of Marxism understood this, as well as the infamous communist, Lenin.
Our nation's political climate began with two factions – Federalist and Anti-Federalists. Later these became political parties and developed into what the main parties are today – Democrat and Republican. Today, the Democrat Party has come to full circle and has shown that the Founders were correct and so was Karl Marx.

The Founders were quite adamant about a republic and not a democracy …

The republican is the only form of government which is not eternally at open or secret war with the rights of mankind.” Thomas Jefferson

Democracy... while it lasts is more bloody than either aristocracy or monarchy. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide.” — John Adams

Democracy will soon degenerate into an anarchy, such an anarchy that every man will do what is right in his own eyes and no man's life or property or reputation or liberty will be secure, and every one of these will soon mold itself into a system of subordination of all the moral virtues and intellectual abilities, all the powers of wealth, beauty, wit and science, to the wanton pleasures, the capricious will, and the execrable cruelty of one or a very few.” — John Adams

Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.” — John Adams

John Adams was suspicious of political factions becoming organized political parties …

There is nothing I dread so much as the division of the republic into two great parties, each arranged under its leader, and concerting measures in opposition to each other. This, in my humble apprehension, is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our constitution.” — John Adams

But why did the Founders prefer a republic over a democratic government? The main reason was that laws made by elected representatives are meant to be fair. If people find laws unfair, they can elect other leaders who can change those laws. A republic allows greater freedom and prosperity. Economic pursuit benefits the entire nation and people are able to live well.
Contrary to what “Liberals” have been trying to tell people, and indeed have been teaching our children – the “political spectrum” is not what they say it is. Obviously this is why too many young Americans are wanting a socialist form of government instead of what the Founders so wisely produced. Marxists began infiltrating our campuses in the late 60s and especially in the 70s. Some of those anti-war protesters would later become part of the faculty and the rest progressed to what you see today. In too many colleges and universities, Constitution 101 and 201 are no longer taught. From K-12 students are under the influence of social engineers [The idea behind social engineering is to take advantage of a potential victim's natural tendencies and emotional reactions.that use our schools as social laboratories and Marxist indoctrination centers.  Textbooks are being published by these Marxists that deletes and adds according to their political agenda.
It is getting to the point that students know nothing about how or why our republic was created or even who the Founders were – except as hypocritical men who wore wigs (not all did, despite the fashion at the time) who had slaves but professed that “all men are created equal”. There was more to it than that.
Thomas Jefferson suffered a conundrum where he knew that slavery must end, but what would happen to the slaves once freed? Indeed, it was Jefferson who orchestrated a bill that passed Continental Congress (originally Virginia legislature) that forbid any more slaves being imported. He knew, like other Founders, that the slave colonies turned to states would not join the Union if slavery was prohibited in the Constitution. Sadly, it took a civil war to finally end slavery that Democrats started over the issue of slavery and its acceptance into any new states joining the Union. Personally, Thomas Jefferson did not consider his slaves so much his 'property', but his responsibility. His slaves had been part of his family heritage that he knew must end in a republic, but how for the benefit of slaves was beyond his comprehension.
All of this and other issues and historical facts are not being taught to our children because we have allowed our schools to be infiltrated by Marxists in the teaching staff and administration, just as socialists have come to full circle and are now openly declaring themselves democratic socialists as if that is better than what Karl Marx created and dictators in history have implemented with such disaster to nations and its people.
The following video is entitled “Overview of America” produced by the John Birch Society and narrated by John McManus ….

In the process, as the video demonstrates, of establishing our Republic, there were those who thought to make George Washington a king, but that would put them back from whence they had started a revolution to escape. So it was established that the rule of law must be applied and not the rule of the mob, which as John Adams stated always ends in disaster. The rule of law, the “law of the land” as described in Article VI means that government is limited and therefore the people are content with their liberties. But that was not enough for James Madison who was the main character in the drafting of our Constitution. Thus he presented ten amendments to the Constitution that became known as the Bill of Rights during the Constitutional Convention of 1787. As one can see, it was a long process to establish a draft and work out the details of the Constitution and its amendments. It could not, nor should not, be hurried because of its importance to be as perfect as humanly possible – defying the march of time and clear enough so that citizens could understand their Constitution. And indeed, it is OUR Constitution because it was written for the people.
James Madison had experience since he had developed the Virginia Constitution eleven years before the Constitutional Convention. The proposed U.S. Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787.
Now that I have covered the historical overview, I would like you to watch this video presentation by Glenn Beck who breaks facts down into perspective and often provides a chart that shows how things began and its sources of corruption and funding. Here he provides examples like Venezuela, a country that was once prosperous, turn from democracy to socialism and then to chaos and destitution in an intellectual discussion on a segment of his show.
