BIRTH NAME: Amy Abigail Nuttall

HEIGHT: 5' 5”

Amy Nuttall is most famously known for her portrayal of Ethel Parks in the Downton Abbey series. She was educated at Bury Grammar School for Girls and trained at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts. She has performed with the National Youth Music Theatre, notably playing the lead role of Princess Ismene in Aurelius at the Tyne Opera House in Edinburgh in 1997. Amy is the youngest actress to understudy and play the lead role of Christine in The Phantom of the Opera at age 17 and has sung at the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and Old Trafford.

Amy is a talented singer with a beautiful voice. In 2005, she released her début album as a classical vocalist Best Days. The album was nominated for album of the year in 2006.

Also in 2005, Amy toured the UK as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady that was critically acclaimed.

In January 2007, Amy performed on BBC Radio on Friday Night is Music Night with an 80-piece orchestra.

In 2010, Amy played one of the lead roles in The Hired Man at the Octagon Theatre, Bolton. She returned in same year to play Stella Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire.

In September 2011, Amy began appearing in Season Two of Downton Abbey as Ethel.

Amy dated Ben Freeman for four years. She married long-term boyfriend, Andrew Buchan on September 8th, 2012. Their first child was born in 2015.

TRIVIA

  • Awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Bolton on July 14th, 2011.

  • Worked on her second album in 2006.
