Time To Repeal Ethanol Mandate & Subsidies

Ethanol is not what the government and ethanol producers told it was to be. "End the Ethanol Rip-Off," wrote author Robert Bryce in The New York Times is more bother than it is worth. In addition, it has caused the price of food to go up like meat because corn is used to feed poultry and cattle. Senator Cruz has been trying to ditch the Ethanol rip-off since its inception as government fuel additive mandate.
President Trump has been deregulating to lesson government intrusion and prevent extra cost to taxpayers, but has not addressed as of yet this Ethanol problem that Senator Cruz has been crusading against.

In addition, diesel is taxed 6 cents higher than gasoline. When diesel was refined to be a cleaner burning fuel, it also raised the price where once upon a time diesel cost less than 87 Octane gasoline. Diesel is used more in Europe than United States because auto manufactures are not producing diesel auto engines. It costs $2,000 more on sticker price for a diesel engine, but considering that the life of a diesel engine properly taken care of is two and three times that of a gasoline engine. Diesel engines get better gas mileage. The military uses diesel fueled engines because the diesel has a higher flashpoint than gasoline making it less combustible and it has a longer storage life. In addition, diesel engines produce more torque with less cylinders than gasoline engines. Of course, high performance cars must remain to be gasoline engines.
There was talk of increasing Ethanol to 15% instead of repealing the mandate of mixing Ethanol with gasoline. It should be up to the consumer whether they choose to use Ethanol or not. Of course, politicians are concerned about the effect it will have on farmers growing corn, but corn has also been used to make plastics.
Rule of thumb: keep government limited as prescribed in the Constitution and life will be better.
President Trump should work with Senator Cruz to stop Ethanol mandates as well as subsidies. It should be part of their deregulation program. The following Fox video explains what I just presented ...
