Pepperball - New Non-Lethal Projectile for Law Enforcement and Military

VKS PepperBall Launcher
PepperBall looks like paint balls, but are filled with a "proprietary"  [exclusive right] irritant that is effective 150 feet [50  yards] to be used for crowd control by law enforcement and military  personnel.
The VKS system looks like an AR15. It can feed PepperBalls from  either a magazine (10 or 15 rounds) or a hopper that sits atop  the launcher with 180 projectiles. The projectiles are .68 caliber in  size and comes in different ammo configurations, each with its own  color coding so the user knows what is what. The projectiles are packaged in plastic jars just like paint balls used in simulated war games by weekend warriors and their clubs.
VKS [Variable Kinetic System] has finalized a contract with the  U.S. Army for US Forces in Afghanistan. The VKS is made in the  USA and has been recommended  by members of the National Tactical Officers Association.

Law enforcement officers may very well be using these for crowd control in the near future.
Other launcher models are available:
* FTC launcher looks like a machine pistol.
* TAC-SF model can be selected for semi-auto or full auto feeding projectiles at 20 per second. It has an electronic hopper and high-pressure air system.
* TCP model looks like a pistol and includes a holster. Semi-auto it fires six rounds. Uses CO2 cartridges and can accept a laser sight.
CS/PAVA
The .68 caliber projectiles are round balls like paint balls and are available for marking that sticks to skin and fabric.
Then there is the "Malodorant" which contains an offensive odor chemical that sticks to skin and fabric.
There is the "Glass Breaker", not to be used against humans but to break windows of vehicles or homes.
"UV-Marker" producing a mark only detected by UV light.
"CS/PAVA containing a CS concentrated gas ("tear gas").
For training purposes there is an inert projectile containing an inert powder. Another training projectile contains water that can contain anti-freeze if requested for cold-weather operations.
It is a solution for non-lethal crowd control.
