To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; A time of war, and a time of peace. [Ecclesiastes 3:1-3:8]
Thomas Jefferson constructed
his own version of the New Testament compiled with the doctrine of
Jesus, in which he entitled it: The Life and Morals of Jesus of
Nazareth, which has come to be known and published as the
Jefferson Bible. Jefferson excluded all the miracles of Jesus and most of what is supernatural, which include the four
gospels concerning the Resurrection
and any passages that portray, in the eyes of the Apostles, Jesus as
divine. It was because Jefferson relied upon logic. He supported the
Christian faith, but put together the book for his own reference,
never intending to publish it or offend his fellow Christians. Only a
few friends knew it existed and read it before he slept at night.
His original idea was to have the life and teachings of the Saviour, told in similar excerpts, prepared for the Indians, thinking this simple form would suit them best. But, abandoning this, the formal execution of his plan took the shape above described, which was for his individual use. He used the four languages that he might have the texts in them side by side, convenient for comparison. In the book he pasted a map of the ancient world and the Holy Land, with which he studied the New Testament.
In a letter to Ezra Stiles Ely in 1819, he wrote:
You say you are a Calvinist. I am not. I am of a sect by myself, as far as I know.
Thomas Jefferson had an unorthodox view of the Bible, especially the conception of who Jesus of Nazareth was, named the Christ by the Apostles who also wrote his
biography for Jesus was not known to write anything.
Jefferson was an open-minded intellectual who took it upon himself to study the Qur'an and then wrote about it, which Denise A. Spellberg compiled and published and who argued that the First Amendment should include Islam because that was intended by Founders. On the contrary, Jefferson's studies showed it was NOT compatible because Islam is a theocracy and its civil law is included in religious law, thus against what the First Amendment is about. [See: Thomas Jefferson's Qur'an] He was also familiar, as our third president, about warring Muslims and sent Navy and Marines to Tripoli to stop the Barbary Pirates.
I began this essay with a quoted
passage that many are familiar with, whether they be Christians or
not. Indeed, the passage was used in a song performed by The Byrds, written by Pete Seeger in the late 1950s. Entitled Turn! Turn! Turn!
In the past decade, too many have
looked upon the ever-growing violence and hatred of Islamic fascism,
and treated it as isolated acts of terrorism and a civil matter;
despite that leadership in the various organizations and rogue
nations like Iran have openly and publicly declared war. It is a war
of Jihad, which means it is a war of conquest.
In the United States we have an
amendment in what is called the Bill of Rights which affords tolerance of religion and disallows any
religion to be sanctioned by the government. It is the First Amendment, and it reads:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
ISIS,
of which too many national leaders have misinterpreted and have the
naive policy that appeasement is the answer. It has only strengthened
them and now they are sending “refugees” and migrants as sort of
pre-invasion. Their goal, and it has been made public by Islamic
clerics is global domination and reintroduction of the 7th
century caliphate established by their prophet and founder of Islam.
Because of this tolerance, also
adopted by European nations and the rest of western civilization that
includes Australia and New Zealand, the Islamic fascists have taken
advantage of it. Islamic fascists are not only
intolerant, but violent and think nothing of mass murder especially
against Jews. But their evil violence is not just aimed at them, but
anyone, Christian or not, that is not a Muslim. Therefore, people of
any nation and their leadership are not obligated to be tolerant
towards a people whose doctrine, religion, is not only intolerant but
decrees violent acts against those not Muslim. This intolerance has
even affected fellow Muslims. Indeed, no nation can be blamed for not accepting immigrants who refuse to assimilate.
Seventh century butchery and
barbarism does not belong in the 21st century. If we do
not want a world of chaos, evil and anarchy, the people must unite
against this real and present danger
and ensure that national leadership have a zero tolerance policy
towards Islamic fascism.
As
far as the United States, we must set an example for Europe, and even
Canada, that appeasement is not the answer and that we should not be
forced to change our traditions and western form of government for
the demands made by immigrants and those claiming to be “refugees”.
It is a matter of common sense.
The
peaceful solution, like that between Israel and Palestine has failed
repeatedly and people of western nations, or any nation, who wants to
live in peace, harmony and with civil and moral rights – must cry
out loudly to the national leadership who are forsaking their
country's culture and sovereignty in the false presumption of
appeasement and tolerance.
We
are involved in a world war and some cannot fathom it and that is
because the enemy has no specific nation, although they fly the flag
of ISIS in unification, and their tactics is not combatant against
combatant, but involves innocent women and children.
No
religion, organization or nation should be tolerated whose doctrine
and policy is rape, plunder, looting, and against any form of human
rights that includes slavery. This is a policy or doctrine for a
theocracy that began in the 7th
century and endangered Europe and destroyed cultural cities and
provinces that came under their theocratic caliphate rule, and now
once again threatens the civilized world.
It
is not unkind or against any human right to not allow immigrants who
refuse to assimilate and whose intentions are to subjugate,
infiltrate, and destroy the culture that accepted them as immigrants
to become national citizens. This is especially true with a people
who think nothing of slavery, cruelty towards women, raising their
children to hatred and violence, and those who expect special
privileges and tolerance, while not reciprocating.
We
are at war and it is time to recognize that one does not accept
“refugees” from nations that we are at war with.
It
is time to demand that Jews and Christians not be persecuted for the Judaeo-Christian religion is truly the religions of peace in the
western world, like Buddhism is in the eastern world and we are at
the point now of what the Ecclesiastes passage stated: a
time of war.
We have no choice if we do not want to see our history, our
traditions, our freedom, and harmony be destroyed forever.
I
don't know about others, but I for one do not want to live in fear or
see my children or their children do so either. Indeed, it breaks my
heart to see western civilization that has contributed so much
throughout the ages to be destroyed by barbarians whose actions and
philosophy should have remained in the “Dark Ages” of history.
It
is a New Year and a new president will swear in on January 20th.
Let us hope that voters have chosen the leadership needed to expel
fascists from our nation, prevent further migration of invaders
disguised as “refugees” as we see in Europe and Scandinavia, and
deal with this danger as if we are at war – because we are.
Appeasement
has failed and brought about capitulation. It is time for war and to
wage it to win decisively and quickly, so the world can once again
live in more peaceful times and celebrate their various cultures
exercising that which makes a successful civilization.
I
have high hopes for this New Year regarding this and other issues
concerning our homeland and nations who have traditionally been our
allies.
