It was the day of signing the document they had created so diligently on September 17, 1787 that cemented a nation created from 13 colonies into 13 states into a nation – the United States.
It was not until the 1870s that Independence Day, July 4th, became an official holiday; but it was not until 2005 that Constitution Day was mandated by Congress as a national celebration day.
In 1939, William Randolph Hearst, the New York City newspaper tycoon who suggested that a holiday be created to celebrate American citizenship. Five years later, the governors of the 48 states issued state proclamations in agreement that a day be called 'I am an American' day.
In 1940, President Harry Truman presented a resolution that would set aside the date to honor the American people. In 1944, Hearst sponsored a 16-minute film entitled “I Am an American”.
In 1952, a Louisville, Ohio resident named Olga T. Weber sponsored that the day be celebrated as 'Constitution Day' and she petitioned leaders of the municipality to change the date to September 17th, the day of the signing of the US Constitution, In 1953, Olga went to the US Congress to approve her petition to make it a national day of commemoration. The original resolution was overturned a new law went into affect, signed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, changing “I Am an American” day to “Citizenship Day”, moved to September 17th.
Louisville, Kentucky was the first city to celebrate Citizenship Day on September 17, 1952.
In 1997, Louise Leigh, after taking a course in Constitutional History, inspired the idea of Constitution Day and founded a nonprofit organization called Constitution Day, Inc.[Link America]
Through her efforts and those who supported her organization, Constitution Day became an official holiday alongside of Citizenship Day in 2004, with the help of Senator Robert Byrd. The head of every federal agency provided each employee with educational materials concerning the Constitution on September 17th and each educational institution that received Federal funds should hold a program for students every Citizenship Day.
Despite all of that effort to recognize and honor the US Constitution and the 39 men who made it national law, the Constitution has been tested, and in recent decades, diluted and transgressed by political factions and influence of special interest groups. Lawyers, elected into political office, began to use loopholes in attempts, sometimes succeeding, in countering constitutional law. By the time the 21st century rolled in, constitutional law became consistently battered and abused, fueled by US Supreme Court Justices who used international laws, political opinion, and the advocacy of making the central government stronger – against the articles of that constitution. While the danger gradually increased against the US Constitution, beginning in the 1930s, it has become popular ideology, even by justices in the Supreme Court, that the Constitution has become outdated; not that there is truth in that ideology, but that it fits the long-term goals of those who believe that socialism is better than a constitutional republic. All of this despite models of failure of such a system as socialism, as shown in history through the failures of Europe.
Political concepts of what is called multiculturalism, recently German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, declared that it has “utterly failed”. Australia and Spain leadership has come to the same conclusion. British Prime Minister, David Cameron
...has warned that multiculturalism is fostering extremist ideology and directly contributing to homegrown Islamic terrorism.
UK Independence Party leader, Nigel Farage said that …
...the United Kingdom's push for multiculturalism has not united Britons but pushed them apart. It has allowed for Islam to emerge despite Britain's Judeo-Christian culture.
Former British Prime Minister, Tony Blair that the roots of violent Islamism can be found …
...in the extremist minority that now, in every European city, preach hatred of the West and our way of life.
When immigrants decide to live in a new nation, the sensible object would be assimilation; as in the United States by becoming a naturalized citizen. Otherwise, what sensible reason would there be for immigrating? Too many immigrants insist upon forcing their culture onto the adopted nation they have immigrated to – allegedly to make their lives better and seek opportunities available.
There is one fact that has been denied: The Muslim world of Islam is at war with Western civilization, just as it was in the medieval period – with one major goal of conquest and global domination of their theocratic oppressive system.
Americans, like Europeans have been taken advantage of their tolerance and efforts be generous with their immigration policies – taken advantage by the very element that the Western world is at war against.
Americans tend to believe that such things cannot happen here, but truth wins out against ignorance and naivety. Islamic Jihad has stretched from the eastern shores to the western shores of the United States through laptop recruitment, reckless visa policies, and just plain homeland treachery – with the help of the mainstream media and progressive socialists.
Last week, 19-year-old Shannon Conley from a suburb of Denver, pleaded guilty to once count of conspiracy to provide material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization. Convey is a militant Muslim convert who aided al-Qaida and other Islamic Jihad organizations. She had military training with the US Army Explorers and planned to go overseas to wage jihad and to train Islamic jihadi fighters in US military tactics.
Conley met an ISIS Tunisian Muslim based in Syria on the Internet and planned to travel there on April 8th, when the feds arrested her at Denver International Airport. Her luggage contained jihad propaganda, materials concerning battlefield first aid, CDs and DVDs with the name of Anwar al-Awlaki, jihad counselor to the 9/11 hijackers and Fort Hood shooter, Nidal Hasan.
Also from Colorado, Muslim convert, Jamie Paulin-Rodriguez was sentenced to eight years in federal prison for providing material support to terrorists. She was a 31-year-old nurse who left her home in Leadville to marry an Algerian Jihadist in Ireland. The man, Ali Damache, is a recruiter for al-Qaida in North Africa in the Islamic Maghreb. He and Ali brainwashed her son, then six-years-old, whose father was an illegal alien from Mexico; trained to build pipe bombs, shoot firearms, and declare war on Christians and kafirs (non-Muslim).
“Jihad Jamie” was recruited in online forums and chatrooms, just like Conley, where she met another collaborator, Colleen LaRose, (Jihad Jane)enlisted to conspire to murder Swedish cartoonist and Islamic critic, Lars Vilks.
Zazi, a 24-year-old Denver airport shuttle driver was a green-card holder from Afghanistan who flew back to his native land to join the Taliban in 2008, but was recruited by al-Qaida leaders to perform suicide bomb operations in the United States as part of a conspiracy involving al-Qaida pilot Adnan Shukrijumah, on the FBI wanted list with $5 million bounty on his head.
The infiltrators and recruiters of Colorado Jihadists has ties with Pakistan militant cleric, Sheik Mubarak Ali Gilani, leader of Jamaat ul-Fuqra. Gilani was the one where Wall Street Journal reporter, Daniel Pearl, was traveling to interview when he was kidnapped and beheaded in 2002. Gilani visited and owned land in Buena Vista, Colorado, where he established a training compound, where operatives stored AK-47 rifles and about 6,000 rounds of ammunition. The camp was raided by local and federal law enforcement officials in 1992. Another ul-Fuqra weapons storage facility was busted in Colorado Springs.
Muslim Brotherhood and al-Qaida established themselves in Greeley, Colorado, where Sayyid Qutb attended Colorado State College (now the University of Northern Colorado) from the father of American Jihad in the 1950s. His minions produced the new generation of Islamic warriors, demonstrating that there is no safe haven in the United States from Islamic Jihadists.
Fear does not prevent death. Fear prevents life. --Naguib Mahfouz
Our Constitution, its First Amendment, clearly states the right of freedom of religion and practicing it; but it does not imply or condone that US citizens and their federal and state government is required to be pacific or tolerant toward a religion that is intolerant and violent, against the very liberties established in the Bill of Rights, plot or conduct subversive acts, and acts of sabotage and mass murder against the people of the United States and its government.
If Americans want to win this war, they first must recognize there is one – and ensure that who they vote for realize the enormous danger that has developed from progressive pacifists whose only concern is getting votes from illegal immigrants through amnesty or voter fraud.
Our nation was founded upon a constitution that surpassed any historical document between government and a nation's people since Hammurabi's Code and the Magna Carter.
If we are to learn from history, no religion should be tolerated who commits murder, enslaves people, or destroys the fundamental 'natural' rights of humanity in the name of a Supreme Being.
We the People must insist that immigrants assimilate, learn to speak, read, and write our national language: English - and learn our Constitution, respecting our culture, traditions, and know our history.
